The Hillside Education Association and the Hillside District, 93 Board of Education, have taken an important step toward opening more doors for our students by creating a college scholarship to be awarded annually to a deserving Hillside School graduate who is completing high school and preparing for college. The purpose is to “pay it forward” and honor a student who has set goals that we have hopefully helped to shape. It also lets our current students know that an 8th-grade graduation is not an end but a beginning. A $600 annual scholarship has been made available through matching contributions from the HEA and the Board. Together, we believe that the best way to express our hope for the future of education is to create an ongoing legacy of learning for the children we serve.
This scholarship will be awarded this spring to a 2020 Hillside School graduate who is enrolling in a college, university, or trade school and meets the other requirements outlined in the available application, including having attended Hillside School for at least four years. The recipient will be selected after submitting a completed application and essay and will be recognized at the Hillside School graduation.
Please complete an online application at https://forms.gle/GN3zT7pn8guiAzZ1A. You can also find the scholarship link on the Hillside School website, www.hillside93.org. The deadline for submitting a completed scholarship application is Wednesday, May 15, 2024, and the award will be announced before the end of May and presented at our 8th-grade graduation ceremony on May 29, 2024.
This opportunity will recognize a deserving graduate of Hillside School and demonstrate to our current students that our teachers and school district are continuing to make education a priority for them, even after they have left our classrooms.
